Information about the nursery.
I opened Claire’s Country Childcare in 1996. I have been a qualified nursery nurse since 1985 having worked on the children’s ward at the North Devon District Hospital since then. It was my ambition to open my own day care nursery and my hospital knowledge has proved to be beneficial to my nursery manager’s role. I am married to a farmer and have three children of my own.
The nursery is open 50 weeks of the year.
We are a committed team and work well together to provide a happy secure environment for the children to develop and learn through structured play.
There are two nursery’s: Butterflies and Caterpillars
In Butterflies nursery we have children 3-4 years and can take up to 20 children with 3 members of staff. There are three rooms one which is the messy room, another for their imaginative play, which is their home corner and the other is for free play. All children are involved in the national curriculum plans which is all the learning they require before starting school the children do different projects every week taking something they make home most days.
Caterpillars has two rooms one for the babies, and the other for toddlers which holds up to 14 children with four members of staff, they follow the birth to three matters plans and do different projects every fortnight these are very simple plans and includes painting, sticking and experiencing new objects, materials, etc.
Both nurseries have an outside play area with bikes, slides and play house to play in. We also have a pets corner in both nurseries with rabbits and guinea pigs.

When your child reaches three years of age they are entitled to five half day sessions free from the government. Nursery staff will sort this out for you.
If both parents work over 16 hours you may be able to get up to 80% of your childcare paid. Please ask nursery staff for guidance.
